The brief/solution
To reposition Toyota and make the Brand Identity as up to date as their cars and also to create a visual system that could work seamlessly across all platforms, locally and globally. Whilst retaining their award-winning heritage and forward-thinking spirit.
We created a new Visual Identity for Toyota Europe, including the design and development of a unique and bespoke typeface. We created new brand guidelines which included a new set of colours, photography styles and textures that were developed to clearly differentiate between six model groups. We also created a system for logo positioning, typography and use of an opaque band was then created to link all of the elements together.
The new visual identity is currently being introduced across 28 countries in Europe with the potential to be adopted globally.
We worked closely with type studio Dalton Maag to develop and create a bespoke humanist Sans Serif font for Toyota. From the initial drawing stage to arrive at a full set of characters that were then developed further into a display and text font in different weights.
Hudson Powell collaborated with us to help create a set of moving textures to represent the different model groups with amazing effect.
